Let me introduce myself.

I’m Aaron. A visual designer and developer with a background in Full Stack Web Development and a passion for visual storytelling.

Experience.

Railsr

Working as a Visual Designer on a consulting arm of the Global Team, I worked with a number of brands to visualize how our products would exist in their brand-ecosystem. Starting at Railsr as an Intern, I learned Figma and started to apply my visual storytelling background to UX and UI within our embedded finance products and marketing. Within a few months I was promoted to a full time role, and started designing customer-facing components in our Credit Card as a Service product like the physical Credit Card, and user flows for SDK’s within our design kit.

I was a driving force behind the company’s evolving visual identity through my involvement across all product, marketing, and advertising output, and helped redefine, formerly, Railsbank through a brand redesign.

University of Arts London

Currently studying Design Management in London, I’m learning how to apply modern design principles to the intersection of creativity, development, and usability in collaborative environments. Concepts like the Double Diamond, and workflows like SCRUM and Waterfall are used to innovate on projects inside and outside the classroom. Research and readings are often based on case studies from IDEO, and relate to human-centered, ethical design practices.

Graduating as the youngest in my cohort, I learned a vast array of technical, collaborative, and leadership skills, as well as a foundation in the MERN stack. Gravitating towards Frontend Development, I began to use Javascript frameworks like React to tell narratives with websites. Since, I’ve worked to build my understanding in mobile development with React Native, and used cutting edge WebGL libraries like React-Three-Fiber to create interactive 3D elements in browser.

The New School

Passionate about journalism and fascinated by the intersection of visual storytelling New Media, I studied Journalism + Design for one year of my Bachelor’s before the COVID Pandemic interrupted studies. Entering studies as an aspiring photojournalist, I quickly realized that the shift from print to digital news had broadened the way people consume news. To be at the forefront meant diversifying my multi-media toolkit, and developing new technology. During quarantine, I started learning how to code.
